Voice Search is a relatively new medium that SEO agencies must now take into account when planning an SEO campaign. As devices like the Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple’s HomePod become ever more popular, voice searches are set to become part of the search engine ecosystem.
How can you optimise for Voice Search?
Analysis has shown that over 80% of Voice Search results on the Google Home are generated by snippets – which are commonly seen in SERPS as Answer Boxes. In the study, however, Answer Boxes were not always the default answer to the Voice Search, even when Answer Boxes were present in the text SERPS – other information generally came from Google’s varied data sources such as Google Local.
From an SEO perspective, this is certainly something to keep an eye on as the number of voice search enabled devices grows. Focusing efforts beyond text SERPS could yield much more organic traffic than in previous years.
