Baitworks, a premium carp bait manufacturer based on the fringes of the Cotswolds, approached Herdl when they were looking to replace their outdated and slow Drupal CMS website. With the ordering process being frustrating, time-consuming, and unproductive, Baitworks needed a more modern and intuitive eCommerce process. The site needed to be completely redesigned and to be fast and secure to cater to the high demand for their premium carp food and reflect their position as industry leaders. As practised and experienced veterans in WooCommerce website design, Herdl cast the bait (proposal) into Baitwork’s swim (inbox), and they bit (signed the deal). ?
Alongside all the usual bells and WooCommerce whistles, Baitworks required some bespoke functionality to overcome their current site’s pain points. These included mixing and matching boilies to receive a bulk discount based on weight, integration with DPD to create instant consignments and labels, migrations of their 27k+ users and their accrued reward points from Drupal to WordPress, and custom basket recommendations from angling experts. Baitworks also needed dedicated POS functionality in their physical store that integrated with the website, streamlining the sale process. Herdl added these elements into the site resulting in a seamless and easy workflow for the Baitworks team whilst also creating a poignant and sleek user experience for their customers.
Before the website launch, Herdl went to visit Baitworks at their shop to train up the team. The initial feedback was all positive and, following some minor last phase tweaks, Herdl delivered the website. Here’s what some of the Baitworks team had to say about the final product:
“Orders coming in, good customer feedback and being sat in the shop, the shop process is soooooo easy! I know this is just the start of our new platform but I’m excited to see how it develops going forward. So it’s a big thanks from me and the whole team at Baitworks.”
Mike Holly, General Manager
“The stock control is fantastic, and processing orders is so much easier. During the sales period, it would have taken me at least an hour and a half at the end of each day on the old site to report back on daily sales, but now it’s all instant!”
Stacey Booth, Operations Manager
Tight lines.
As well as being super hands-on with the website throughout the process – for example, adding products, prices and user testing – Baitworks have been incredibly responsive on the comms, which has allowed Herdl to drive the project forward. This collaborative workflow has resulted in a website we’re very proud of. Baitworks have also brought Herdl onboard as their dedicated SEO agency, as well as for the aftercare of the website, meaning that (a common pitfall after most website launches) we’ll be on hand to keep the site firing on all cylinders.
With unanimous positive feedback from anglers followed by an active and successful sale, it’s safe to say that the new site has hit the ground running. Like Mike, we too are excited to see how the website and platform develops in the months and years to come.
